“In an international investigation involving police officers from Slovenia, Croatia and Spain, investigators detained several weapons smugglers. The investigation thus broke the international criminal group and crossed the so-called Balkan route. According to NPU Director Darko Majhenič, 23 suspects, members of a criminal organization that smuggled weapons, identified in cooperation with colleagues from other countries.

About 100 police officers, 60 criminal investigators from various police administrations and 49 NPU investigators took part in the investigations. They detained 15 suspects, and on Friday, six suspects were taken to an investigating judge who ordered the detention for them.

Upon completion of the pre-trial procedure, the prosecution filed a request for investigation against 23 suspects for 78 criminal acts related to arms transfers and one criminal offense of trafficking in illicit drugs.” (translated from Sio1)
