The possibility that Slovenia will recognize the independence of Palestine in the time of the outgoing government is practically no longer.
Three and a half months after Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec announced the recognition of Palestine as a sovereign and independent state, the possibility of doing so during the outgoing government virtually no longer exists after the yesterday’s ‘session.’
Jožef Horvat, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, yesterday assessed that the requirements of the Foreign Affairs Act were not met on the basis of an assessment of the unclear position of the government, whether or not it supported the recognition of Palestine. He was also affiliated with the representative of the Legislative and Legal Service of the National Assembly Nataša Goršič. There was no discussion about recognition at all.” (translated from Delo)
