“The focus of the Croatian Prime Minister’s visit was on the future of the EU and Croatia’s role in the union.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenković’s key message to European leaders was that Zagreb wants to play a bigger role in the EU’s future.
On Wednesday, Plenković became the first Croatian Prime Minister to participate in a College of the European Commission. The prime minister informed the commissioners of Croatia’s goals during its term at the helm of the EU’s rotating presidency in the first six months of 2020, noting that the key issue was the strategy towards the Western Balkan countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, specifically in terms of their Euro-Atlantic integration. He also cited economic issues and bringing the EU closer to its citizens as priorities.” (Voice of Croatia)
