“Some 150 illegal migrants are protesting in neighboring Serbia, near the Tovarnik border with Croatia. They are demanding that the border be opened and that they be allowed to enter Croatia so that they can continue to make their way to western EU countries.
The illegal migrants were stopped from making any further progress on their trip by Serbian police. They have since erected a tent settlement there. The Croatian police have said that as it stands they are not in contact with their Serbian counterparts, because the unrest is currently taking place within Serbia’s borders.
The Croatian Interior Ministry announced today that it continues to conduct its regular border security activities, but that it has beefed up its presence at the border with Serbia.
Also today the Croatian Interior Ministry responded to claims from the Serbian Interior Ministry that the death of an Afghan girl on railroad tracks on the Serbian side of the border one month ago was Croatia’s fault.” (Voice of Croatia)
