“The Law on the Use of Languages will be passed despite not being signed into law by President Gjorge Ivanov and the attempt by the opposition, VMRO-DPMNE, to block the submitted amendments. Their opposition is a confirmation of the lack of a sense of responsibility and sensitivity regarding these issues, said Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani.

At a meeting with journalists, answering a journalist question, he noted that the Law on Languages stems from Amendment 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia and the Framework Agreement. By adopting it, the implementation of the political agreement that was adopted 17 years ago will be completed.

‘The law is fully within the framework of the Constitution and it also satisfies the spirit of the Framework Agreement. He spent all stages in the government. We regret that the president of the state did not sign the law and failed to use the last year of his mandate to be a cohesive factor in the society. However, it is regrettable that the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE did not use this momentum to confirm its claims after the elections that it was misinterpreted and that they were anti-Albanian or that they made mistakes in relation to the Albanians,’ Osmani said.” (translated from Nova Makedonija)
