US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee has spent the day meeting government officials in Kosovo including Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, President Hashim Thaci, Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli, and sat down for an interview with Voice of America in the Balkans. Yee reiterated US support for Kosovo in strengthening rule of law and the economic situation the new country faces in a discussion with Prime Minister Haradinaj. Thaci and Yee discussed bilateral relations, dialogue with Serbia, and Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective. He moved on to a meeting with Foreign Minister Pacolli, in which they discussed the economic situation of Kosovo including the Trepca mines in Mitrovica and how to unify the half Serb, half Albanian city. Finally, Yee gave an interview with Voice of America. He alluded to Kosovo being granted visa liberalization to the European Union if they pass the border demarcation with Montenegro.
