“Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn in an interview for Radio Free Europe (RSE) estimates that any solution of Serbia and Kosovo should not go to the detriment of the stability of the Western Balkans.
RFE : Are you in favor of the exchange of territory between Serbia and Kosovo in order for both countries to move towards the EU?
Hahn : I am for solving any bilateral conflict, but any solution must contribute to the broader stability of this region, so that the bilateral solution does not go to the detriment of others in the region. Now we need to see a wider picture, which means no matter what the solution is, it must be such that it does not go to the detriment of others.
RFE : But do you exclude the exchange of territory?
Hahn : I think this should be left to them, let them discuss it. Now they know very clearly what our conditions are, and I think that, if you want to achieve something, you need to think outside of the established frames.” (full interview at Radio Slobonda Evropa in Serbo-Croatian)
