“A contract for the development of the western Gorisko area, which envisages three projects totalling EUR 36.5m ($43.15 mln). The projects, which will be mostly financed by EU and state funds, include an upgrade of the road network in the region to better connect it to central Slovenia.

The upgrade of the road network will be carried out as part of the so called fourth development axis and will get the lion’s share or EUR 34m of the available funds.

The state aims to improve road connections between the mountainous Posočje and Idrijsko-Cerkljansko regions and central parts of the country.

‘I believe that this … will enable better connections to the region,” said Economy Minister Zdravko Pocivalsek, who signed the contract with the head of the development council of the northern Primorsko region, Matej Arcon.” (Slovenia Times)
