U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) and Millennium Corporation Challenge (MCC) acting CEO Jonathon Nash were present in Kosovo for the Launching Conference for Millennium Foundation Kosovo. Engel is the ranking member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Co-chair of the Albanian Caucus.
“The program was signed in September, while the official launch was made on Monday in Pristina, within the conference for the Millennium Foundation in Kosovo. This grant emphasizes government support, transparency, fighting corruption and everything else facing the new democracies.'” (translated from Koha)
Congressman Eliot and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj held a meeting where Kosovo honored Engel’s contribution to Kosovo’s independence. Meanwhile, Eliot gifted Haradinaj with the flag that flew over the White House on July 4th. (Lajmi)
Finally, RTK Live is reporting that:
“He (Engel) said that it is important for Serbia and Kosovo to become part of the EU and added that the U.S. needs to be involved in the dialogue.
‘I know that Kosovo is still not a member of the UN, due to the troubles caused by Serbia and Russia, and Kosovo lost membership at UNESCO because of Serbia. If Serbia wants to be part of this family, it should not undermine works of another state because it is not fair to block Kosovo,’ Engel said.
