“Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is in Strasbourg, France, where he gave a speech in front of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council.

Earlier in the day he spoke with the president of the Parliamentary Assembly, Liliane Maury Pasquier, as well as the Secretary General of the European Council Thorbjorn Jagland. Croatia will for the first time assume the chairmanship of the committee of ministers of the council of Europe for a six-month term beginning in July – which will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign And European Affairs, Marija Pejčinović Burić.

The prime minister touched on the importance of the Council as an organisation for the democratic and legal order of the European continent and what membership has meant for Croatia. Plenkovic added that throughout its 22 years on the Council of Europe, Croatia has – among other things – greatly strengthened its legal system.” (Voice of Croatia)
