“Croatia sent a written response to the European Commission on Tuesday after Slovenia filed a complaint, claiming Croatia’s refusal to recognize the arbitration ruling in the border dispute between the two countries was in violation of EU law.

Croatian MEPs Dubravka Šuica and Ivan Jakovčić defended the decision in a television interview on HRT Wednesday and said Slovenia was taking advantage of the EU mechanism that allows a member state to sue another member before the Court of Justice of the EU.

In its letter to the commission, Croatia argues that it did not break EU law by refusing to implement the arbitration ruling because that ruling was the result of a tainted arbitration process. Further details about the letter are now known because the process is sealed.” (Voice of Croatia)
