“Croatia’s National Protection and Rescue Directorate, the central State administration body responsible for civil protection activities, says central Dalmatia and the surrounding islands are at high risk of wildfires.

The state’s protection agency is calling on citizens to exercise extreme caution in the areas of Split, as well as the islands of Šolta, Brać, and Korčula, due to the very high risk of wildfires.

Fire Chief Slavko Tucaković wants nothing left to chance: “Our teams are ready for immediate intervention.” Tucaković also confirmed that spotter planes were surveying the area around central Dalmatia in order to give firefighters the chance to put out fires before they have a chance to spread.” (Voice of Croatia)
