“The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Hu Zhaoming spoke at a news conference about bilateral cooperation in all fields.

‘Last year was the year that marked the 25th anniversary of Croatian – Chinese diplomatic relations. Our leaders exchanged felicitations and we had high level visits. However, more important than this was the better visibility of China and Croatia among the peoples of both countries which was higher than in previous years. Last year our cooperation achieved significant progress,’ he noted.

‘Relations between China and Croatia received support from all parties in Croatia. From the Chinese perspective we believe that Chinese-Croatian relations can become stronger as soon as two platforms for cooperation are fulfilled. The first is the ‘one belt, one road’ initiative. This was begun by the Chinese president 5 years ago. It is a sort of new Silk Road. Croatia has a special position on that platform, not only due to Marco Polo but because of the three seas cooperation initiated by the Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. The second platform of cooperation is 16+1. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković took part in that meeting twice. China was impressed by the positive stance towards 16+1 cooperation,’ said Hu Zhaoming.” (The Voice of Croatia)
