“The Committee of the Library of Congress in Washington acknowledged the Montenegrin language. Montenegro has received an international language code, the National Library of Montenegro has announced.
The Djurdje Crnojevic Library asked for the codification of the Montenegrin language nine years ago and the request to recognize the language within the ISO international standard has been accepted.
‘Montenegro has received international code for the Montenegrin language within the ISO international standards. On Friday, we were informed that the ISO 639 United Advisory Committee approved the request of the National Library of Montenegro. Indication of the Montenegrin language will be CNR, titles in English and French, Montenegrin and in original Montenegrin language in Latin and Cyrillic. The ISO table will be updated in the weeks to come,’ said the director of the library Bogic Rakocevic.” (translated from Politika)
