“The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, called for Albanians in Macedonia to vote in support of the name change agreement during the referendum.
The statement was made in an interview with Albania Daily News. The President said: ‘I believe and at the same time appeal to all Albanians in Macedonia to participate in the referendum on September 30th and to vote for the agreement which will open a new chapter not only for the integration of Macedonia but for the future in this country too.’ Meta stated that he supports all dialogue between Macedonia and Greece as the best approach for Macedonia to enter the EU and NATO. He also spoke out on the issue concerning the recent talks between Kosovo and Serbia. While Albania’s president supports a diplomatic solution, he rejects the notion of redrawing any borders.” (EU Scoop)
